The Chestnut Canoe Company answered the need for a lightweight canoe well suited to solo travel and occasional tandem paddling by introducing the versatile Bob Special. While the canoe was very stable due to its wider than normal beam, the hull shape was optimized for performance, resulting in a remarkably fast canoe. Our version is based on the original Chestnut with some improvements to increase speed and seaworthiness. It is ideally suited as a tandem tourer but large enough for a weekend canoe trip. It really shines when paddled solo by a competent paddler. The Bob has a unique blend of features that produce a canoe that novice paddlers can appreciate but experts can relish. Made in Canada.
