This Chestnut Canoe was originally built with the outdoorsman of the early 1900s in mind. Chestnut's mission was to design a canoe that would allow outdoorsmen to paddle small creeks as well as large lakes and be small enough to traverse the then non-existent portage trails at the same time. To meet these unique needs, The Chestnut Canoe Company put into production something efficient yet maneuverable. For the modern canoeist, the Trapper's primary and secondary stability are reassuring, although its stability does not sacrifice its speed. It has plenty of room, for everything from a day of fishing to a week of backcountry travel. It is a great canoe to use to improve your "J" stroke and can also be used with a double-bladed paddle. The Trapper combines the fun of a stable fishing platform with the advantages of a small, lightweight boat for portaging in small, productive lakes.
