Now available with optional sand tires. The TowNStow Bunkster Kayak Cart is constructed from high-quality, UV-resistant injection-molded polymers and anodized aluminum tubing, and is assembled with stainless steel hardware. The Bunkster features two fixed uprights configured in a “bunk” style, where the bars run parallel to your boat’s hull, which accommodates many modern kayak hull shapes. The uprights can be easily repositioned along the centerline to maximize compatibility with varying kayak widths and hull lines. The centerline features six bunk positions ranging from 6.25” to 16” wide.

Bunk Bed Ties and Cushions

Securing a kayak to the Bunkster with straps can be different for each kayak model, which is why, like the TowNStow BarCart, the Bunkster has a built-in tie-down point located in the center of the axle. The tie-down point is designed for 1" flat straps (not included), but you can also use ropes smaller than 5/16" in diameter. One difference from the BeadLoc hard surface tires is that the Sand tires do not have a built-in tie-down point at the end of the wheel hub. For added grip on the underside of your kayak, the Bunkster includes four high-traction rubber bumpers. For long-term durability, we opted for snap-on rubber bumpers instead of the usual foam.

Wheels

Two air-filled balloon tires are mounted on a two-piece injection-molded wheel. The air-filled tires are optimized for a variety of soft surfaces, including sand and mud, and yes, they are YakAttack Orange. The wheels feature sealed hubs to keep sand and grit out. Like BeadLoc wheels, they easily snap on and off with the push of a button, and are interchangeable.

Storage and components

Many anglers set up their kayaks in the boat ramp parking lot and haul them to the water’s edge, but it’s not always possible to get them back to their vehicle. Doing so leaves their kayak and gear unattended and vulnerable to theft. The Bunkster was designed to disassemble completely without tools. The wheels come off by pushing the button behind the axle hub in seconds. The fixed uprights are removed by lifting the orange position detent lever and sliding them off the axle. All components except the center anchor point can be removed from the aluminum axle, leaving five pieces that can be stowed in most hatches.

The Bunkster comes with two kickstands, configured on each side to optimize and support the loading angle on both sides of the cart. When not in use, the sturdy kickstands snap into place and lock into place.
